Sculpture of a blue-painted toilet seat and a photograph of an egg, signed and annotated “Man Ray – This is to certify that the seat is my private utensil MR – Mon œil Man Ray” respectively on the reverse of the photograph, on the back of the toilet seat and on its edge.

Authentication by Andrew Strauss and Timothy Baum of the Man Ray Expertise Committee.

The original sculpture was the basis for a black bakelite replica, two copies dating from 1964 and an edition of ten for Marcel Zerbib. There is also a variant of this sculpture with the inscription “marteau frappez S.V.P.” on the photograph of the egg.
