DESIGN MIAMI/BASEL

Juin 2023 | Basel – Switzerland

On the occasion of Design Miami/Basel, Jacques Lacoste gallery will present a selection of pieces dating from the second half of the 20th century. These bear witness to the prolific creativity and wide range of inspirations which characterised French decorative arts during the 1950s and 1960s. The selection will particularly focus on outstanding pieces by three of the century’s most prominent designers and artists :  Jean Royère, Diego Giacometti and Alexandre Noll.

The selection will include a set by Jean Royère (1902-1981) comprising a large 12-light Mosquée chandelier in metal painted black and gold (circa 1962), a pair of triple Mosquée wall-lights in tubular metal painted black and gold (circa 1962), and a chandelier in tubular metal also painted black and gold (circa 1962). The latter two models were not previously seen on the market. In addition will be a Val d’Or coffee table, in black patinated iron with a glass top (circa 1962). All these pieces were actually part of one single commission.

Also on display will be an exceptional Caryatides table by Diego Giacometti (1902-1985), in brown and green patinated bronze with a glass top monogrammed D.G and signed Diego (circa 1976). This came from the Jerry Ganz collection.

A set of pieces by Alexandre Noll (1890-1970) and a rare N°307 stool (circa 1952) by Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) in tubular metal painted in black and aluminium sheet will be presented as well.
